How to Approach:

The candidates who are appearing for UPSC EPFO recruitment for the first time must be confused about what to study and not to study and how to prepare for the written examination. Following are a few tips that will help you through the process of preparing for your exam:

·       The first and the most important step is to go through the Syllabus and Exam Pattern as you will know exactly what to study and how much to study. Since you will know the type of questions asked, the marks weightage, the number of questions from each subject/topic, etc. it will be easy for you to prepare.

·       Now according to the exam pattern, make a list of all the important topics, the topics with more marks weightage, and the topics that you feel are difficult. If you focus more on these topics, rather than the topics that are not even in the syllabus or which are rarely asked, then you have the probability of scoring more marks.

·       With the list that you prepared, make a study plan for yourself because regular practice is a must. You must practice each and every day to maintain the rhythm and flow of the study.

·       Once you have thoroughly studied all the subjects and topics then start solving the previous year's question papers and start giving mock tests as soon as possible. Evaluate your performance based on these tests and strategize your preparations accordingly.

·       Time management is the utmost important key to ace any competitive exam. Time yourself while solving previous year's question papers. Try hard to enhance your speed while keeping in mind the accuracy as well.

·       Following the current affairs is a must practice for all the UPSC EPFO aspirants. Read a newspaper daily, if possible read one Hindi and one English newspaper daily, and make notes of the important subjects. Even while studying other subjects you must practice making notes, so that you can quickly revise them when in need.

What to Prepare:

·       General English

·       Indian Freedom Struggle.

·       Current Events and Developmental Issues.

·       Indian Polity & Economy

·       General Accounting Principles

·       Industrial Relations & Labour Laws.

·       General Science & knowledge of Computer applications

·       General Mental Ability & Quantitative Aptitude

·       Social Security in India
